Chris Cruz and his family moved to Upland shortly before he began Kindergarten. His mother, a public school teacher, and his father, a public school district employee, saw that Upland offered unrivaled opportunities for their son. With optimism and hard work, those opportunities came to life. Chris Cruz enjoyed his early school days and can say that his teachers prepared him for life-long success.
Chris Cruz completed his K-12 education at Upland High School. He was a member of varsity water polo, varsity swim, the debate team, student government, the National Honors Society, the California Scholarship Federation, and Future Business Leaders of America. He also worked to give back serving as Community Service Commissioner, founder of the Anti-Bullying Club, and as a PTA volunteer.
Using the strong educational background that Upland schools gave him, Chris Cruz went on to attend Harvard University. He studied economics and government before pursuing a successful career in the private sector. He then returned to Harvard to obtain a law degree. At Harvard Law Chris Cruz was devoted to public service and was recognized for performing over 1,000 hours of pro bono legal services.
Knowing how much Upland schools provided him, Chris Cruz knew he wanted to give back. He decided to run for school board to ensure that the next generation of students in Upland had even greater opportunities than he had. He is now looking forward to making this goal a reality and hopes you join him in making Upland a place of opportunity for all.
